Summary

The George Hall Green Team intiated last year largely led by PTA parents Nicole Garza, Sola Grantham, Claudia Molina and Principal Anaben Kazemi. Recent work with expanding the school garden spaces and weekly events such as the litter pick-up "Trash Train" spurred goals toward continuing the work of sustainability at George Hall to address the amount of compostable waste going to landfill from lunch and recess.

Goals for the 2019/2020 school year were: 1) add composting to the wastehauling service 2) increase school-wide waste sorting awareness, education and practice  3) work with the school custodian, students, staff and community to divert organic and recyclable waste from recess and lunch area to ultimately, 4) increase the amount of organic and recyclable waste diverted from the landfill as an individual and collective habit that can decrease CO2 emissions from waste.
